The Granrud's Lefse Tradition
If you happen to be driving about one mile south of Opheim, Montana, you'll find Granrud's Lefse. People come from all over to tour our unique operation and sample our lefse hot off the grill. Our season starts up in the fall and runs into April. Come by some time to watch and taste.

Founders Evan & Myrt GranrudCompany History
In 1977, Evan and Myrt Granrud had this BIG idea to make lefse. The wheels started turning, the pieces started to fall together and after many long hours spent designing the rolling machines, the tube stuffers, frying grills, cooling conveyer and perfecting the recipe, the perfect lefse was made. The unique rolling process (not pressed) Evan developed is what makes many say Granrud’s lefse is “just like Grandma used to make.” Evan and Myrt's efforts paid off, and since 1977, Granrud's Lefse is still being sold nationwide.

In 1995, the Granrud’s decided to sell their business, and it was purchased by Northern Electric Cooperative of Opheim.

In 1998 Granrud's Lefse was honored to be named the "Official Lefse of the Høstfest" held in Minot, North Dakota every October. It is North America's largest Scandinavian Festival.

In September 2005, former managers Alice Redfield and Twyla Anderson became the new owners of Granrud's Lefse.

Unfortunately, we lost Evan Granrud in 2014 and Myrt in January 2015. They are missed by this community and by all the past and present employees of Granrud’s Lefse.

Who would have ever thought that lefse would put Opheim on the map? In a small community such as ours, there are not that many jobs and for that matter, workers to do the jobs that are available. Granrud's Lefse is, with the exception of the Opheim School, the largest employer in town. Up to 10 people work together, peeling and cooking, mixing, stuffing, rolling, frying and packaging, to make this delicious Scandinavian treat for you.

We would like to thank our many loyal customers who make Granrud's Lefse what it is today.
Norsk Hostfest
Granrud’s Lefse is the official lefse of the Norsk Hostfest, the largest Scandinavian festival held in Minot, North Dakota.
This year’s festival is Sept 27–30, 2017.
